GroundView™ is AEA Energy & Environment's purpose built system to help Local Authorities cope with Part IIA Contaminated Land regulations. It extends the functionality of either ArcView or MapInfo GIS systems to:

• Make the job of the Local Authority Officers easier
• Save time in managing, finding and reporting information
• Prioritise sites for inspection
• Generate income from charging for high quality reports
• Assist the Local Authority in defending decisions that have been made
• Improve Best Value attainment through increases in efficiency

GroundView™ is an integrated software system consisting of two key functions:

GroundView™ Data Management, which relates a specific site polygon to a unique database entry. The Groundview™ data management database structure is predefined but not protected so any user is free to modify the structure before or after supply with or without the help of AEA Energy & Environment.

Many other searches are available including radius search tools which enables the selection of a site within a given radius in order to respond to questions like ‘what can you tell me about contaminated land within a 250m radius of my clients address?’. Once sites are selected any number of predefined reports can be produced for the selected sites. Reports can be customised to include your own corporate logo and users are free to design their own reports encompassing textual information from the database.

GroundView™ Site Prioritisation, which identifies areas of land, which could pose a threat to safety, health or the environment because of contamination. The secondary aim is then to prioritise these areas in order to plan further investigations in a systematic way. The GroundView™ system allows users to retain the results within the system for future scrutiny and allows flexibility within the prioritisation system as you go through the Part IIA process.
